One of the most successful vocal groups of the early rock-and-roll era, The Platters had 40 charting singles on the Billboard Hot 100 between 1955 and 1967, including four No. 1 hits. Known for songs such as “Only You (and You Alone),” “The Great Pretender” and “Smoke Gets in Your Eyes,” The Platters were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1990 and the Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 1998. “Only You (and You Alone)” and “The Great Pretender” were later named songs of the century and were entered into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 1999 and 2002 respectively.
We’ve Only Just Begun: Carpenters Remembered celebrates the music of one of the most successful recording acts of all time. Starring Michelle Berting Brett, and accompanied by a seven-piece Nashville band, the show re-creates the Carpenters’ original sound. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Carpenters’ first album with A&M Records. Fans will experience an intimate behind-the-scenes portrait of the pop-music phenomenon that defined an era and sing along to hits, including “Close to You,” “Yesterday Once More,” “Rainy Days & Mondays” and many more.
