Rochester Music Hall of Famer Al Jardine is back in our area to perform with his Beach Boys bandmate Brian Wilson tonight at del Lago Resort & Casino.

The show is set for 8 p.m. at The Vine. Jardine spent some of his childhood in the Rochester area before moving to California and becoming famous. We got a chance to talk to Jardine about that, ahead of tonight’s show.

Due to unforeseen scheduling conflicts, Ken Jeong’s performances Sept. 19 and 20 at The Vine Showroom at del Lago Resort & Casino have been rescheduled to 5 and 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, 2019.

Guests who purchased tickets for the Thursday, Sept. 19, performance will be able to use their current ticket for the 5 p.m. show on Saturday, Oct. 5. Tickets purchased for the Friday, Sept. 20, performance can be used for the 8 p.m. show on Saturday, Oct. 5. Tickets do not need to be reprinted or exchanged.

Customers who purchased tickets through dellagoresort.com or the Vine box office for either show and are unable to attend the newly scheduled showtimes may receive a credit or refund through the original point of purchase by Aug. 15.

del Lago Resort & Casino Also Receives Two Additional Top Honors

Del Lago Resort & Casino is pleased to announce it has received top honors at the 2019 Rochester Business Journal and The Daily Record Reader Rankings Awards. For the third year in a row, the resort and casino was named the Best Casino in the region. Del Lago Resort & Casino also received honors as one of the area’s top three in the Best Event Meeting Facility and Best Hotel categories. The annual awards honor the top businesses in the community as voted on by readers.

This award comes at an exciting time for del Lago Resort & Casino as the construction of DraftKings Sportsbook at del Lago is underway. Del Lago Resort & Casino plans to open the highly anticipated 6,000-square-foot state-of-the-art sportsbook later this summer. The luxurious sportsbook will boast a restaurant and bar, with seating for nearly 200 people. The awards were given at the Rochester Business Journal and The Daily Record’s annual Reader Rankings Awards Ceremony at the Rochester Riverside Convention Center. This year there were more than 13,000 nominations and more than 47,000 votes were cast.

New Orleans native Troy Andrews fronts funk/rock/jazz/hip-hop band Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue. He began his career as a bandleader at the young age of 6 and spent his teens playing with various brass bands throughout New Orleans and touring worldwide with Lenny Kravitz. Trombone Shorty released his most recent album, “Parking Lot Symphony,” in 2017 and his 2011 album, “For True,” topped Billboard’s Contemporary Jazz chart for 12 weeks. He has backed Macklemore and Madonna at the Grammys, played on albums by Zac Brown and Dierks Bentley, opened tours for Daryl Hall & John Oates and Red Hot Chili Peppers and played the annual fest-closing set at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival.

In two minutes and 42 seconds, Chubby Checker revolutionized popular culture and changed the music business forever. When he appeared on “American Bandstand” in 1960 and performed “The Twist,” it was the dawn of a new era in rock ‘n’ roll. He stands alone as a one-of-a-kind rock icon: 36 hit records, the only artist to have a single go to No. 1 twice and, according to Billboard, has the No. 1 single for the whole decade of the ’60s. Checker was awarded the first Platinum Single and the first Rock Grammy, and has sold an astounding 250 million records over the years.

Due to popular demand and a quick sell-out of his September 20 performance, del Lago Resort & Casino is pleased to announce television and film actor and comedian Ken Jeong has added a second show at The Vine.  Carter Bair, vice president of marketing at del Lago Resort & Casino said they were excited to see the first show sell-out within days of going on sale. “It was clear we needed to add a second show to accommodate the demand of the market and Ken was kind enough to accommodate that need,” Bair said.

Jeong, best known for his scene stealing abilities, has established himself as one of today’s top comedic stars.  Since his feature film debut playing the doctor in Knocked Up in 2007, Jeong has gone on to star in a number of memorable roles in a series of successful comedies including Crazy Rich Asians, Role Models, Pineapple Express, Transformers 3 and Step Brothers. His most memorable role as Asian-mobster Mr. Chow in the blockbuster movies The Hangover and The Hangover Part II earned him an MTV Movie Award in 2010.

In 1995, Jeong won the Big Easy Laff Off competition which led him to move to Los Angeles where he began performing regularly at the Improv and Laugh Factory. He has been in a number of television shows including “The Office,” “Entourage,” “Curb Your Enthusiasm” and as a series regular on the critically acclaimed NBC show “Community” from 2009-2015.  He most recently was seen starring on ABC’s “Dr. Ken,” which he was the creator, writer, and executive producer and was a judge on FOX’s “The Masked Singer.” Jeong returns to his stand-up roots for his first-ever Netflix comedy special, “Ken Jeong: You Complete Me, Ho” which launched in February 2019.

Announcement Comes at Exciting Time of Growth for del Lago Resort & Casino

del Lago Resort & Casino announces the promotion of Lance Young, Vice President of Gaming Operations, to Executive Vice President and General Manager. Young will be assuming the role formerly held by Mark Juliano, who has accepted the role of Chief Gaming Officer at Baha Mar, a luxury casino and resort in Nassau, Bahamas.

Young has been a part of the del Lago Resort & Casino leadership team since August 2016, prior to the property opening. He has been an integral part of the team, playing a pivotal role in del Lago Resort & Casino’s launch and successful operations. Young began his del Lago career as Vice President of Table Games where he designed the layout of the gaming floor and Table Games equipment and developed internal controls, policies and procedures. He was also responsible for helping to develop the company culture and core values as well as staff training. As Vice President of Gaming Operations, Young managed capital projects including the upcoming Sportsbook, totaling over $6M. In 2018, he managed the property during the General Manager transition, overseeing all operations and marketing of del Lago Resort & Casino. Young has more than 25 years of experience in the gaming industry and held executive roles at Meadows Racetrack & Casino in Pennsylvania and Cannery Casino Resorts in Las Vegas, Nevada.

This change comes at an exciting time for del Lago Resort & Casino as the construction of DraftKings Sportsbook at del Lago is officially underway. del Lago Resort & Casino plans open the highly anticipated 6,000-square-foot state-of-the-art Sportsbook later this summer.

In honor of Memorial Day and Flag Day, del Lago Resort & Casino donated more than 600 American flag kits to numerous local organizations, including the Canandaigua VA Hospital, Syracuse VA Hospital, the town of Seneca Falls and the town of Waterloo, recognized as the Official Birthplace of Memorial Day.

Del Lago Resort & Casino employee and veteran Rich Mero delivered the donated flag kits to the Canandaigua and Syracuse VA hospitals.
