The Vine for the second year in a row. Leno will take the stage for two shows: 8 p.m. on Friday, March 13, and at 8 p.m. Saturday, March 14. Leno is an acclaimed TV late-night show host, admired stand-up comedian, best-selling children’s book author and philanthropist. His late-night television ratings domination included more than two decades of “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” winning every consecutive quarter of his hosting for 19 years. “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” has also taken home the trophy for “Favorite Late Night Show” in the annual TV Guide Awards determined by voting viewers. Leno was recently installed in the Television Academy’s Broadcast Hall of Fame and has succeeded in the newest entertainment arena with “Jay Leno’s Garage,” of which he is a producer and the star. A tireless performer, Leno loves to share his humor with audiences across the nation, performing more than 100 live stand-up comedy performances each year. Leno last performed at The Vine in March 2019 to a sold-out audience.

For more than four decades, Blue Öyster Cult has been thrilling fans worldwide with powerful albums loaded with classic songs. BÖC occupies a unique place in rock history because it’s one of very few hard rock/heavy metal bands to earn both genuine mainstream critical acclaim as well as commercial success.  Influenced by Metallica, the band’s hits include “(Don’t Fear) The Reaper,” “Godzilla,” “Burnin’ for You,” “Cities on Flame with Rock and Roll,” and “Then Came the Last Days of May.” “Burnin’ for You” received heavy rotation on MTV when the music television network premiered in 1981, cementing the band’s contribution to the development and success of the music video in modern popular culture. Leaving its mark in history, BÖC was listed in VH1’s countdown of the greatest hard rock bands of all time.

The American Red Cross has a critical need for donors of all blood types to give blood or platelets to cancer, organ transplant and other patients. As a community steward of the Finger Lakes region, del Lago Resort & Casino is proud to support the American Red Cross by hosting a blood drive on Wednesday, October 30 from 1-7 p.m. in the hotel ballroom. Donors must be 17 years of age or older to donate.

“The Red Cross is able to fulfill its life saving mission, thanks to our blood and platelet donors—151,655 in our region alone,” said Patty Corvaia, American Red Cross communications manager. “Thank you to del Lago Resort & Casino for hosting a blood drive, the donors who are playing a critical role in helping to save lives and to our New York-Penn blood program leaders.”

Every two seconds, someone in the U.S. needs blood, and currently The American Red Cross is especially in need of platelet donors and type O blood donors. Having enough type O blood on the shelves is important for ongoing patient care and emergencies. The Red Cross must collect more than 2,500 platelet and about 13,000 blood donations every day for patients at about 2,500 hospitals and transfusion centers nationwide.

Director of Entertainment Recognized as One of the Top Casino Entertainment Executives of the Year

 del Lago Resort & Casino can add another award to its growing roster of national recognitions.

Presented by the Global Gaming Expo (G2E), del Lago Resort & Casino’s entertainment venue, The Vine was named the 2019 Showroom of the Year by the Casino Entertainment Awards (CEA). The official awards honor outstanding casino artists, executives and venues nationwide. Additionally, del Lago Resort & Casino Director of Entertainment Jason Klug was recognized as one of the top three Casino Entertainment Executives of the Year. The seventh annual awards were given at the 2019 Global Gaming Expo in Las Vegas.

Online nominations are solicited annually from the casino entertainment community and finalist nominees and CEA recipients are selected by a panel of casino entertainment professionals. More than 1,500 nominations were received this year.

This honor comes on the heels of del Lago Resort & Casino being named the No. 1 casino hotel in New York State by the 2019 USA Today 10Best Readers’ Choice travel awards. Additionally, last month del Lago Resort & Casino was recognized by Casino Player magazine with top honors in its annual New York State Best of Gaming Awards reader survey. Morgan is one of the most well-respected comedians in his field, known for his roles across seven seasons of “30 Rock,” where he received a Supporting Actor Emmy nomination, and “Saturday Night Live,” which earned him an Emmy nod for Outstanding Guest Actor. TBS’s “The Last O.G.,” which Morgan executive produces and stars in, was recently picked up for a third season. He also recently appeared in Paramount’s “What Men Want” opposite Taraji P. Henson, and has had standup specials for Netflix, HBO and Comedy Central. In 2009, he released his first book, “I Am The New Black,” a compilation of anecdotes and serious moments that shaped him and his career. He has also had memorable voiceovers in “G-Force,” “Rio,” “Rio 2” and the Oscar-nominated “Boxtrolls.” Morgan can next be heard voicing the role of Fox in Netflix’s November 2019 series “Green Eggs & Ham,” as well as Caption Caveman in the upcoming 2020 feature “Scoob.” Additional film credits include “The Longest Yard” alongside Adam Sandler, “Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back,” “Head of State,” “Son of No One,” “Why Stop Now” and “Fist Fight.”

Music legend Chubby Checker, best known for his iconic version of “The Twist” in 1960, is getting ready for a performance in our area.

The show is happening October 11 at 8 p.m. at at del Lago Resort & Casino.

Ahead of next week’s show, Checker, who turns 78 this week, paid us a visit in studio on Good Day Rochester.

He talked about why “The Twist” has been a lasting hit, how Rochester is responsible for a memorable moment early in his career, what he thinks of today’s music and much more.

del Lago Recognized by Magazine’s Best of Gaming Awards

Del Lago Resort & Casino has again been recognized by Casino Player magazine with top honors in its annual New York State Best of Gaming Awards reader survey. Del Lago received a total of 11 awards to add to its growing list of recognitions. Each year, the magazine asks its dedicated readers to select casinos across the U.S. that are worthy of being honored the best of the best.

Del Lago Resort & Casino continues to give back to local nonprofits with its community giving program, Community Cash In. The donation program raised $3,875.66 for Food Bank of Central New York.

Donations for the Community Cash In are raised by guests who donate slot machine vouchers into one of five marked receptacles located at the cage and at each casino entrance. The total of the vouchers is donated each quarter to a local charity selected by del Lago Resort & Casino. This is del Lago’s third Community Cash In donation. To date, Community Cash In has raised nearly $11,000 for Seneca County House of Concern, Foodlink and Food Bank of Central New York.

Food Bank of Central New York serves as the main food distribution hub for hundreds of partner agencies in an 11-county emergency food network service region across central and northern New York. The food bank provides more than 14 million pounds of food — the equivalent of 12.1 million meals — to hungry families, children and elderly every year. Food Bank of Central New York is a not-for-profit organization working to eliminate hunger through nutritious food distribution, education and advocacy in cooperation with the community. The food bank partners with 280 emergency food programs in Cayuga, Chenango, Cortland, Herkimer, Jefferson, Lewis, Madison, Oneida, Onondaga, Oswego and St. Lawrence counties.

“The Food Bank of Central New York is an integral part of our community and we are pleased to donate nearly $4,000 to such a deserving organization, which will provide meals for 11,400 neighbors in need,” del Lago Executive Vice President and General Manager Lance Young said. “We are proud to provide this donation to another deserving nonprofit in our region through our Community Cash In program, and we look forward to continuing to support those in need with this charitable initiative.”
