From the platinum-selling country duo Thompson Square, Thompson has made the transition to the world of comedy with his first tour. He rolled out new comedic material in August at Nashville’s Zanies Comedy Night Club before a rowdy sold-out crowd. The night — appropriately titled “Laughs and Lyrics” — featured his unique brand of song-oriented comedy, including hilarious songs like “Ain’t No Branches on My Family Tree” and “Die-M-C-A.” Over the past few months, Thompson has toured the comedy circuit, secured regular performances at Zanies, and appeared at Stand Up Live in Huntsville, Alabama, and the legendary Comic Strip Live in New York City.

For more than 25 years, Dale Jones combined his animated faces with quick improvisations to make audiences laugh. He was a semi-finalist of on Season 6 of the hit NBC series “Last Comic Standing.” Jones trained at the world-renowned Second City and has had numerous television appearances, including on “The Very Funny Show” and “30 Seconds to Fame,” and is a regular on Sirius XM’s “The Jeff and Larry Channel.”

Blood, Sweat & Tears invented a new style of music in the late ’60s. The band is not the first group to ever use a horn section, but it was the first to fuse it with rock, jazz and some blues thrown in for good measure. The band’s second album, self-titled “Blood Sweat & Tears,” was a huge success, rising to the top of the charts for seven weeks and yielding three Top 5 singles. The album received the Grammy Award for Album of the Year in 1970, beating out the Beatles’ “Abby Road.” The album earned quadruple-platinum status with sales well over 4 million. “Blood Sweat & Tears” went on to receive 10 Grammy nominations and won three. The album was also inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2002. One of the band’s most iconic performances was in August 1969 at Woodstock, the same day as Jimi Hendrix. Del Lago Resort & Casino guest and local resident Tammy M. has been named winner of the seventh annual TournEvent of Champions slot tournament in Las Vegas. Del Lago held qualifying rounds throughout 2019 and sent two winners to Las Vegas to play for a chance to win the grand prize in the Million Dollar Event.

TournEvent of Champions is a collaboration between Everi and top casinos to bring unprecedented competition, intensity and glory to the casino floor through the premier slot tournament in North America. Leno is an acclaimed TV late-night show host, admired stand-up comedian, best-selling children’s book author and philanthropist. His late-night television ratings domination included more than two decades of “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” winning every consecutive quarter of his hosting for 19 years. “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” has also taken home the trophy for “Favorite Late Night Show” in the annual TV Guide Awards determined by voting viewers. Leno was recently installed in the Television Academy’s Broadcast Hall of Fame and has succeeded in the newest entertainment arena with “Jay Leno’s Garage,” of which he is a producer and the star. The American Red Cross has a critical need for donors of all blood types to give blood or platelets to cancer, organ transplant and other patients. As a community steward of the Finger Lakes region, del Lago Resort & Casino is proud to support the American Red Cross by hosting a blood drive on Wednesday, October 30 from 1-7 p.m. in the hotel ballroom. Donors must be 17 years of age or older to donate.

“The Red Cross is able to fulfill its life saving mission, thanks to our blood and platelet donors—151,655 in our region alone,” said Patty Corvaia, American Red Cross communications manager. “Thank you to del Lago Resort & Casino for hosting a blood drive, the donors who are playing a critical role in helping to save lives and to our New York-Penn blood program leaders.”

Every two seconds, someone in the U.S. needs blood, and currently The American Red Cross is especially in need of platelet donors and type O blood donors. Having enough type O blood on the shelves is important for ongoing patient care and emergencies. The Red Cross must collect more than 2,500 platelet and about 13,000 blood donations every day for patients at about 2,500 hospitals and transfusion centers nationwide.
