Waterloo, N.Y., May 17, 2018 — On May 3, del Lago Resort & Casino hosted the United Way of Seneca County’s annual Taste of Spring event. The 80’s themed fundraiser celebrated wine, cider, craft beer, tea, coffee and foods of the Finger Lakes. All proceeds from the event supported United Way of Seneca County’s community work.

More than 600 people attended this year’s event, doubling last year’s attendance — easily becoming one of the best attended Taste of Spring events ever. More than $17,000 was raised which will support United Way’s partner agencies and Seneca County community initiatives. All money raised stays in Seneca County and is invested in numerous health and human service programs to best serve the needs of the community. An extensive network of over 250 local volunteers keep administrative costs low and enable almost 90 cents of every dollar to help people in need.

“Bringing the Taste of Spring event to del Lago Resort & Casino for our 30^th anniversary this year was a fantastic opportunity,” said Rhonda Jasper, Executive Director of United Way of Seneca County. “It is a beautiful space with such a dedicated and professional team — the perfect venue for an event featuring so much of what the Finger Lakes has to offer. We hope that del Lago Resort & Casino will be the new home for our annual Taste of Spring event moving forward and the start of a great partnership as del Lago and the United Way work together to create a lasting impact for all working and living in Seneca County.”

When rain looked imminent for the third annual Right to Run 19K/5K event on Saturday, May 12, del Lago Resort & Casino immediately stepped up to the plate and donated a tent from Auburn Party Rental.

“We didn’t want the post-race events to be canceled or the participants to be standing in the rain — del Lago was happy to coordinate and donate an event tent,” said Joell Murney-Karsten, del Lago Resort & Casino community outreach coordinator. “We were thrilled that Auburn Party Rental was able to set the tent up with only a few hours’ notice, even donating their setup and delivery fees.”

Right to Run features 19K and 5K running races for men and women in historic Seneca Falls, New York. Held the Saturday of Mother’s Day weekend, the race ends at the future home of the National Women’s Hall of Fame, the Seneca Knitting Mill. The run is a fundraiser for the knitting mill’s renovation and will become the Center for Great Women.

“The rain would have put a damper on Right to Run without the timely donation of a tent from del Lago Resort & Casino,” Right to Run President Menzo D. Case said. “A big thank-you to del Lago for its contribution and continued community partnership.”

Town of Tyre, Seneca County and Surrounding Counties in Past 15 Months

Local Business Spotlighted for Major Growth Because of del Lago

Waterloo, N.Y. May 14, 2018 — In a little more a year since its opening, del Lago Resort & Casino has already paid more than $53 million in taxes to New York state, the town of Tyre, Seneca County and the other counties in the region. While the bulk of the money — 80 percent — goes to New York state for education funding, Tyre and Seneca County have each received more than $2.6 million as a direct result of del Lago. Tyre and Seneca County each received 5 percent of what del Lago pays the state, while the other six counties in upstate Region Five have divided another $5.3 million.

The $53 million tax revenue is on top of a $50 million license fee paid to the state of New York of which Tyre and Seneca County each received $2.5 million and the other surrounding counties received a proportional share of another $5 million.

While those payments represent the largest infusion of money for local governments as a direct result of the Finger Lakes’ gateway resort and casino, by June, del Lago will have also paid $1.5 million in property taxes, as well as nearly $100,000 in hotel room occupancy tax, which supports the Seneca County Chamber of Commerce as the tourism promotion agency for Seneca County.

From hiring a team of 1,200 employees from the local workforce to partnering with scores of local businesses, wineries, restaurants and attractions, del Lago has kept its promise to be a good neighbor and a catalyst for increasing tourism, jobs, economic development and opportunity for this beautiful part of the state,” said Aaron Gomes, del Lago Resort & Casino’s chief operating officer. “In a little over a year, del Lago’s tax payments have resulted in more than $10 million flowing to local governments, allowing them to reduce or hold the line on local property taxes.”

“The town of Tyre has seen an overwhelmingly positive impact because of del Lago Resort & Casino,” Tyre Town Supervisor Ron McGreevy said. “Gaming tax revenue received from the casino has not only significantly lowered our property taxes, but has allowed the town of Tyre to begin to repair our aging infrastructure and to begin replacing our dated highway equipment. We are also in talks to expand our small existing water district, bringing municipal water to parts of Tyre that have water quality and quantity issues. We are able to do this because of del Lago Resort & Casino.”

“For the taxpayers of Seneca County, $2.6 million is a lot of money,” Seneca County Board of Supervisors Chairman Robert Shipley said. In addition to all the other benefits del Lago Resort & Casino has brought to the region, we are especially grateful for jobs — del Lago Resort & Casino is now the largest employer in Seneca County — and increased sales tax revenue as the influx of new gaming revenue has allowed Seneca County to rebuild our property tax reduction fund. After seeing what del Lago has been able to do in a little over a year, the future outlook for our county and the region are looking much brighter.”

Additionally, area businesses are seeing a significant increase in revenue since del Lago Resort & Casino opened. Wilson Press & Mail House in Seneca Falls has seen a noteworthy impact on its bottom line since the partnership with del Lago Resort & Casino began. The printing company directly attributes its substantial growth to the resort and casino’s business.

On May 4, the Seneca County Chamber of Commerce special legislative luncheon with Congressman Tom Reed was held at del Lago Resort & Casino. After the luncheon, the Congressman and his staff toured the $440 million casino, hotel and Spa del Lago, meeting with some of del Lago’s more than 1,200 employees.

Congressman Reed, a four-term incumbent representing New York’s 23rd Congressional District (serving parts of Western New York, the Southern Tier and Finger Lakes Region), is a member of the House Ways and Means Committee, which is responsible for addressing issues of tax policy, trade, health care and Social Security. In addition, he sits on the Trade, Health, and Human Resources subcommittees. He is also Co-Chair of the Congressional Diabetes Caucus, the House Manufacturing Caucus, and the Problem Solvers Caucus.

Del Lago Resort & Casino hosted another successful Savor del Lago (formerly Tasting Tuesdays) event on April 24 with the proceeds benefiting Safe Harbors of the Finger Lakes. Safe Harbors provides crisis and advocacy services to victims of sexual assault and domestic violence as well as prevention education related to these topics in the community. Del Lago Resort & Casino presented Safe Harbors of the Finger Lakes with a check for $1,693.

The next Savor del Lago event will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 29, and will benefit the Wounded Warriors in Action Foundation Inc. The monthly event features tastings and sales from local wineries, breweries, and cideries, and on May 29 will also include four drawings every hour from 6 to 9 p.m. for cases of wine and spa packages. Savor del Lago is free to Massimo and Elite players, $5 for Premier and Signature players, and $10 for non-carded guests.

The ultimate goal of Thrive to Survive is to be able to support adults with cancer emotionally and financially.

Del Lago launched this monthly event in June 2017 and has raised more than $17,000 for numerous local charities, including the Seneca County House of Concern, Cayuga/Seneca Community Action Agency, Calvary Food Pantry, United Way of Seneca County and the American Heart Association of Rochester.

del Lago Resort & Casino celebrated National Beer Day on Saturday, April 7th by hosting a special edition of Savor del Lago featuring craft beer and cider samplings from numerous vendors. All of the proceeds from this event benefited Fetch A Friend Rescue in Seneca Falls. Fetch A Friend was on site with 12 puppies up for adoption, dog obedience demonstrations, and information on other dogs looking for forever homes. The event was very successful raising nearly $2,447 for the Rescue and supplying them with 28 adoption applications from guests. Escalating the excitement, del Lago awarded $20,000 in cash and prizes throughout the event, with one lucky guest winning a private brewery tour of the Budweiser plant in Baldwinsville, New York.

Fetch A Friend Rescue is a volunteer-staffed, community supported, non-breed-specific dog rescue. The organization provides emotional and physical care to dogs in need while searching to find them loving, forever homes. Proceeds from Savor del Lago Raises More than $700 for Seneca County House of Concern

From the very start, del Lago Resort & Casino has had a focused mission to strengthen the community by supporting local non-profit organizations and businesses. In honor of del Lago Resort & Casino’s one-year anniversary, it held a Savor del Lago event featuring a variety of Savor NY and Tasting Tuesdays vendors. Guests were invited to sample and purchase locally sourced products — from wine, beer and cider to coffee, lotion, honey and sauces.

Proceeds from the event, totaling more than $700, were donated to Seneca County House of Concern. House of Concern was also the first charity recipient of del Lago’s monthly Tasting Tuesdays events last June. Seneca County House of Concern has been a source of assistance for people in difficult situations for more than 47 years, helping them with basic needs, such as food, clothes and household items, while treating everyone with dignity and respect.
