At 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 19, del Lago Resort & Casino welcomed the 9/11 Never Forget Mobile Exhibit trailer to the region for the first time. Local first responders met the exhibit at the New York State Exit 42 in Geneva and escorted the 18-wheeler from the exit, up Route 318 to del Lago.

The exhibit is located in the del Lago Resort & Casino (1133 State Route 414, Waterloo) parking lot June 20-26 and will be open from 2-8 p.m. during the weekday and 11 a.m.-5 p.m. on the weekend. The 9/11 tribute exhibit is free and open to all ages however, donations to the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation are welcome.

Del Lago hosted another successful Savor del Lago event on May 29 with proceeds benefitting the Wounded Warriors in Action Foundation Inc. (WWIA), Finger Lakes Chapter. WWIA serves our nation’s combat-wounded Purple Heart recipients by providing world-class outdoor sporting activities as a means to recognize and honor their sacrifice, encourage independence and connections with communities, and promote healing and wellness through camaraderie and a shared passion for the outdoors.

As the beneficiary for the May Savor del Lago, WWIA was presented with a $1,216 check from del Lago resort and casino.

The next Savor del Lago will event will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, June 30, and will benefit the Seneca Falls Read & Feed Program. Guests can enjoy wine and beer tastings from over 12 Finger Lakes Regional wineries, breweries, and cideries. Savor del Lago is free to Massimo and Elite players, $5 for Premier and Signature players, and $10 for non-carded guests.

del Lago Resort & Casino proudly sponsored the American Cancer Society’s annual Relay for Life event in Seneca County. Held on Friday, June 1, at the Mynderse Academy Track, the event raised nearly $60,000 to fund groundbreaking cancer research and patient care programs. The fundraising event consisted of a 6-hour team relay signifying that cancer never sleeps and patients don’t stop because they are tired. There are over 3,500 Relay events around the country every year to support and celebrate cancer survivors, caregivers, and remember those who have lost their battle with cancer.

Del Lago Resort & Casino is pleased to announce two more shows have been added to its summer lineup at The Vine. Nancy Wilson, one of the founding members of the legendary Rock and Roll Hall of Fame group Heart, has teamed up with former Prince’s New Power Generation band member and R&B singer Liv Warfield to form the soulful rock super group Roadcase Royale. The band is joined by Heart veterans Dan Rothchild (bass), Ben Smith (drums) and Chris Joyner (keys), and Warfield lead guitarist Ryan Waters. Each of these members shines in Roadcase Royale, with their various backgrounds in rock and R&B, creating the group’s sensitive, passionate and driving sound. Front Line Tours Inc. Recognizes del Lago Resort & Casino as its No. 1 New Tour for 2018

From the start, the mission behind del Lago Resort & Casino has been to act as a gateway to the Finger Lakes region. That mission is coming to fruition as the resort and casino has seen a significant uptick in Canadian travelers coming to del Lago for multiple-day stays. Front Line Tours Inc., from Hamilton, Ontario, has also recognized del Lago Resort & Casino as its No. 1 new tour in 2018.

“When we initially launched the del Lago Resort & Casino tour opportunity, we immediately had to add additional bookings in response to the positive feedback we received from our customers — the packages quickly sold out and have been going strong ever since,” said Paul Jordan, tour coordinator/co-owner of Front Line Tours Inc. “Del Lago Resort & Casino quickly became one of our top tours this year. Our Canadian guests not only enjoy all of the amenities del Lago has to offer, but the wonderful day trips to the many wineries, breweries and attractions of the Finger Lakes in addition to the outlet mall, which gives an added bonus for our Canadian shoppers.”

Because of the high demand, Front Line Tours has added a tour to del Lago Resort & Casino each month. The group’s first bus tour in October 2017 comprised two full buses and has since booked 22 additional overnight buses staying for four days and three nights. The uptick in Canadian travelers coming to del Lago is bringing new tourists to our region while helping benefit both Seneca County and local businesses.

Front Line is just one of the many Canadian tour groups partnering with del Lago to bring out-of-market visitors to the Finger Lakes region. Del Lago Resort & Casino is averaging three Canadian tours each month, with each group averaging three-night stays. Many of these tourists are exploring the countless attractions the Finger Lakes region offers.

“We have always said that del Lago is the gateway to the Finger Lakes region. By increasing tourism in the region — specifically Canadian visitors — del Lago has helped generate additional new visitors to local businesses, including New York wineries and breweries, and additional revenue for local governments through increased sales-tax collections,” said Aaron Gomes, del Lago Resort & Casino’s chief operating officer.

Last year, the Seneca County Chamber of Commerce reported that 23 percent of the county’s visitors noted del Lago Resort & Casino as the reason for their visit to the county.

Given the amazing benefits that the del Lago Resort & Casino have provided to Tyre, Seneca County and the entire Finger Lakes region in a little over a year, it has truly troubled me to read the stories in the last month about del Lago not producing the level of revenue that had been predicted several years ago (before it even opened).

Del Lago Resort & Casino is a first-class facility run by a first-class team, and we couldn’t be more appreciative that we have such an incredible neighbor and community steward in our backyard. The Town of Tyre and Seneca County are forever grateful to have been selected for the opportunity of a lifetime.

From the start, del Lago has created hundreds of jobs onsite, as well as spurring new businesses and working to increase economic development, tourism and opportunity for the people of the Finger Lakes region. Del Lago’s steadfast commitment to the entire region has far exceeded all expectations.

Since it opened, we have seen significant contributions to the Town of Tyre, Seneca County and surrounding counties in the region. Del Lago has greatly lowered property taxes, contributed to state education funding and provided much-needed job growth throughout our region. Gaming tax revenue received from the casino has also allowed the Town of Tyre to begin to repair its aging infrastructure and replace our dated highway equipment. We are also in talks to expand our small existing water district in the future, hopefully bringing municipal water to parts of Tyre that have water quality and quantity issues. That’s all because of del Lago.

Tyre has also received $100,000 this year from del Lago to protect farmland. This is the first payment of a six-year commitment by del Lago earmarked for future preservation or expansion of farmlands in the Town of Tyre.

Del Lago is one of the most community-minded organizations in our area, always stepping up to the plate when needed. They have spent the past year giving back to the community by donating tens of thousands of dollars to countless not-for-profit organizations supporting the people of Seneca County and all of the Finger Lakes region.

In Tyre, Seneca County and the Finger Lakes region, the sentiment is clear. We know firsthand the positive impact del Lago Resort & Casino has had on our area, we see it daily when we look at the major changes that have been happening along NYS Routes 318 and 414. As our county’s largest employer, we know that the 1,200 jobs created by del Lago Resort & Casino are truly stimulating our economy and have spurred other much-needed development along these routes.

Where the sentiment is not clear is in Albany. The messages of del Lago’s undeniable economic impacts, community contributions and employment numbers must make its way to Albany. State leaders should know how quickly del Lago has become one of the most important assets and vital economic players in our area. Albany should do all it can to ensure the success of del Lago and the entire Finger Lakes region.
