del Lago Resort & Casino to Host Blood Drive Open to the Public

The American Red Cross has a critical need for donors of all blood types to give blood or platelets to cancer, organ transplant and other patients. As a community steward of the Finger Lakes region, del Lago Resort & Casino is proud to support the American Red Cross by hosting a blood drive on Wednesday, October 30 from 1-7 p.m. in the hotel ballroom. Donors must be 17 years of age or older to donate.
“The Red Cross is able to fulfill its life saving mission, thanks to our blood and platelet donors—151,655 in our region alone,” said Patty Corvaia, American Red Cross communications manager. “Thank you to del Lago Resort & Casino for hosting a blood drive, the donors who are playing a critical role in helping to save lives and to our New York-Penn blood program leaders.”
Every two seconds, someone in the U.S. needs blood, and currently The American Red Cross is especially in need of platelet donors and type O blood donors. Having enough type O blood on the shelves is important for ongoing patient care and emergencies. The Red Cross must collect more than 2,500 platelet and about 13,000 blood donations every day for patients at about 2,500 hospitals and transfusion centers nationwide.
