del Lago Resort & Casino Supports the Third Annual Right to Run 19K/5K

Katherine Switzer (center), the first woman to run the Boston Marathon as a numbered entry in 1967, author, marathon runner and TV commentator, ran in the 19K and also spent time with the runners and attendees.

When rain looked imminent for the third annual Right to Run 19K/5K event on Saturday, May 12, del Lago Resort & Casino immediately stepped up to the plate and donated a tent from Auburn Party Rental.

“We didn’t want the post-race events to be canceled or the participants to be standing in the rain — del Lago was happy to coordinate and donate an event tent,” said Joell Murney-Karsten, del Lago Resort & Casino community outreach coordinator. “We were thrilled that Auburn Party Rental was able to set the tent up with only a few hours’ notice, even donating their setup and delivery fees.”

“It is our privilege and responsibility to give back to the community that we call home,” said Juris Basens, del Lago Resort & Casino senior vice president and assistant general manager.

Right to Run features 19K and 5K running races for men and women in historic Seneca Falls, New York. Held the Saturday of Mother’s Day weekend, the race ends at the future home of the National Women’s Hall of Fame, the Seneca Knitting Mill. The run is a fundraiser for the knitting mill’s renovation and will become the Center for Great Women.

“The rain would have put a damper on Right to Run without the timely donation of a tent from del Lago Resort & Casino,” Right to Run President Menzo D. Case said. “A big thank-you to del Lago for its contribution and continued community partnership.”
